| Obsessed with film since I was 13 - somewhere in the early 1980s - after viewing
Mario Bava's La Maschera del Demonio (1960) on German television.
Horror buff - and avid collector - ever since, especially crazy about
European Continental Horror, Giallo, Poliziotteschi, German Krimi and
horrors from the UK! But then again, I love pretty much all things
"Genre" from the 1920s to the 1980s, and that from anywhere in the world
(Mexican wrestling movies, Kaiju Eiga, Filipino exploitation and such).
Became part of the furniture in many a local videostore during those
amazing 1980s, which helped me expand my scope towards Macaroni Combat,
Eurowestern and a variety of other European subgenres. Add to this a
healthy dash of European (s)exploitation, Slashers, Pre-Code movies, and Film Noir, along
with a seasoning of Canuxploitation, Blaxploitation, Hicksploitation,
Carsploitation, enjoyable Hollywood 'Studio Systerm' atmospherics, nostalgic 'Matinee' moods, entertaining vintage Television Shows (I am a huge fan of The Hardy Boys), adorable seasonal specials, funky TV Horrors of the 1970s and the early 1980s, and much more... Enormous fan of Mario Bava, Jesus Franco, Antonio Margheriti, Massimo Dallamano, Sergio Martino, Lucio Fulci, Aldo Lado, Umberto Lenzi, Fernando di Leo, Pupi Avati, Dario Argento, Ruggero Deodato, Enzo Castellari, Riccardo Freda, Harry Kümel, Jaromil Jireš, Salvatore Samperi, Alfred Vohrer, Jean Rollin, Amando de Ossorio, Narciso Ibáñez Serrador, Eloy de la Iglesia, Jorge Grau, Léon Klimovski, José Ramón Larraz, Terence Fisher, Don Sharp, Val Guest, Freddie Francis, Peter Sasdy, Robert Siodmak, Jules Dassin, Jacques Tourneur, John Carpenter, Tobe Hooper, Bob Clark and many many more. So here at SHOOT FIRST, DIE LATER you may encounter European Continental Horror from the late 50s to the early 80s, UK Horror from roughly the same period, Violent Italian Cop Thrillers, Macaroni Combat, Eurowestern, Krimi, Eurospy, French Polar, Jungle Adventures, Peplum and a variety of other Euro Subgenres, Horror from Mexico, Brazil, Argentina and the Philippines from the late 50s to the early 80s, Oriental Horror and Exploitation from the 60s and 70s, Horrors from Eastern Europe, Film Noir, Swashbucklers, 1950s Science Fiction, Silent Horrors, US Horror of the 1930s to the 1980s, Slashers, Canuxploitation, 1980s Horrors, pulp 1980s Action, Women in Prison, Nunsploitation, Nazisploitation, Comedia Sexy all'Italiana, Decamerotica, Mondo, Blaxploitation, Hicksploitation, and much much more... You may also encounter Pulp Literature and Sleazy Italian Fumetti, and... |
Le Musée des Obsédés: Taken from the Archives of Dr. Freudstein Here
you may discover elements of Freudstein's extensive personal
collection. Stills, publicity material, rare magazines, vintage movie
books, ex-rental tapes and much more in regular posts, along with
occassional looks 'behind the scenes' of the esteemed Doctor's weird and wonderful museum! Les Introuvables: We will also try to find our way through the labyrinth of obscure and hard to find movies, rare television pilots, while occasionally sidestepping into the wild and wonderful terrain of Eastern European movies. |
| Note: Considering that a lot of these movies feature nudity and
aware, sadly, that a lot op people out there consider showing a naked
body inappropriate, I have decided to add the following icon - ♀ - to the blog titles, indicating said blog post features nudity. An additional notification (Restricted!) will be placed if/when the post contains sexually suggestive content and/or other 'objectionable' material. Make sure to visit COLT.38 SPECIAL SQUAD! and THE ARKHAM FILES for some more cool, random, and mostly movie or pulp related stuff. Check out my viewing log HERE! Beware: considering the thousands of movies I have seen this is yet
still incomplete. You can also check out the INDEX and find magazine and book REFERENCES. And always remember, in space no one can eat ice cream! |
